Birth of Jesus

Worship

The Israelites were living in persecution, torment and were hopeless people.

All because Mary said "LET IT BE...according to His Will"

Scriptures

These scriptures foretold of the birth of Christ (Old Testament). The Annunciation shows us how faithful Mary was in accepting this and saying "Let It Be".

Luke 1: 26-38

The Annunciation

26And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37For with God nothing shall be impossible. 38And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; let it be unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Numbers 24:17

I shall see him, but not now:

I shall behold him, but not nigh:

There shall come a Star out of Jacob,

And a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel,

And shall smite the corners of Moab,

And destroy all the children of Sheth.

Micah 5:2-5

Little Town of Beth-lehem

2But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. 3Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel. 4And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

5And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

Jeremiah 23:5

5Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

Isaiah 9:6-7,

6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 7:13-17

And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. 15Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. 16For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings. 17The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

Psalms 72:10-11

The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents:

The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

11Yea, all kings shall fall down before him:

All nations shall serve him.

Key Meanings of Psalm 72:10-11:

"Kings of Tarshish and the Isles": Refers to distant, wealthy lands, symbolizing the ends of the earth recognizing the king's power.

"Kings of Sheba and Seba": These regions (likely in modern Yemen/Ethiopia/Africa) offered gifts, recalling the Queen of Sheba's visit to Solomon, a precedent for recognizing the Messiah.

"Bring gifts/Tribute": Signifies submission and recognition of the king's supreme authority, a fulfillment of prophetic promises for the Messiah.

"All kings shall fall down before him": A universal acknowledgment of the Messiah's divine rule.

Connection to the Wise Men (Magi):

Fulfillment of Prophecy: The Magi's visit to Jesus in Matthew's Gospel is seen as the actual fulfillment of these prophetic verses, where Gentile "wise men" (scholars/astrologers) from the East bring gifts to the new King.

Prefiguring the Messiah: Psalm 72 describes a king who rules with justice, whose fame extends globally, and receives homage, which Christians apply to Jesus. The Magi's journey from the East (Persia/Babylon) brings the first Gentile recognition, echoing this ancient prophecy.

Who am I to NOT worship you?

After hundreds of years, hundreds of specific visions from different prophets coming true, we must ask ourselves, how are we answering God's requests with "LET IT BE"?
